CASE STUDY – NEOVISION

The Business Problem

The owners of the LA Galaxy, AEG, contacted Neovision, an LED board manufacturer, to develop an LED video board to replace the static advertising boards that were common at that time. The Galaxy had just signed David Beckham and was preparing to host a first ever game in the US against Real Madrid. AEG’s desire was to present the first LED video display board in a US soccer game.

The Client’s Challenge

To develop an LED display board that would run the length of the field with no damage to the turf. This LED display was also required to be loaded into a standard semi-truck trailer to be moved from one MLS team location to another while Real Madrid was on a limited US tour.

The Solution

The company selected Right Manufacturing to design, build, and transport the display set. The challenge was to develop a frame structure with no visible gaps between LED boards over the length of the field. Working with the engineering team from Neovision (a Korean company), the frame design and transport frame design were developed. The LED boards were right assembled and placed in the metal frame system, which was loaded onto the shipment racks and delivered to the LA Galaxy stadium. Personnel from Right also assisted in the original setup and operation of the LED board system. The overall project was a complete success, as LED board displays are now common for all major sporting events.

CASE STUDY – COVIDIEN

The Business Problem

A market leader of respiratory care devices found they needed a safe manner for their sales force to transport their flagship product. The flagship product is the PB980 ventilator, familiar to clinicians in hospitals throughout the U.S. and 150 countries worldwide. The PB980 ventilator is a large and very delicate piece of equipment, and the sales team needed a reliable, safe, and easy solution to load and unload the ventilator for customer presentations.

The Client’s Challenge

The Covidien sales team included individuals located in various regions across the US. Transporting the PB980 product to customer sites was difficult due to its size and bulk. It was determined that a Transport Sled, specifically designed to affix to the vehicles used by the sales team needed to be developed and optimized.

The Solution

The company selected an industrial design group who then selected Right Manufacturing to be their partner in manufacturing design. A prototype was developed and field tested and performed exceptionally well. Right developed the process to produce, package and drop ship to the various sales team regions. The overall project was a complete success, fully meeting the customer’s expectations for safe and efficient ventilator transport.

Right Manufacturing was chosen for this project due to its ability to fulfill all stages of the manufacturing process while working closely with design engineers. Fabrication (prototype and volume), finish, assembly, packaging and shipping.

CASE STUDY – MEDICAL CABINET RECLAIM

The Business Problem

A Fortune 100 medical device customer sells and leases medical supply cabinetry to customers. These cabinets get returned after several years in the field. Historically, customers would receive brand new cabinets – new hardware, new casters, new electronics, new everything! The customer literally recycled tons of metal every year and replaced the returned cabinets with new ones. An opportunity to re-use certain parts of the cabinets was being missed. While recycling the metal was greener than simply disposing of it, the process was still not as environmentally “green” or as cost-effective as it could be.

The Client’s Challenge

Constructed in powder-coated steel and including several hardware components, the customer has three options when the cabinets are returned from the field.

(1) dispose of the cabinets in a landfill,
(2) recycle the metal and replace all elements of the cabinet with new materials, or
(3) reclaim the metal and hardware, mitigating the need to recycle and saving the customer significant expense for new metal and components.

The Solution

Working together with the customer, APC created a reclaim process where the customers’ “used” cabinets were sanded, resurfaced, and re-powder-coated to a “like new” state. The hardware and casters are also removed, examined, and, if acceptable, reclaimed as well. As an additional service to the client, APC’s trucks physically pick up the used cabinets from the customer for processing and then return them when fully reclaimed. Today, APC annually reclaims thousands of cabinets for the customer, saving the customer several hundred dollars per cabinet– and millions of dollars per year! The Earth is happier, too, as this solution is by far the most environmentally friendly!
